Last year, I took a trip alone to Scottsdale, Arizona. I had traveled to Phoenix for a convention a few years back but never to Scottsdale and I had a great time!
When I travel, it is usually the result of a family vacation, work trip or girlfriends getaway. So, this trip was a little different for me in that I was traveling alone. While I was a little nervous, I was determined to have a great time, to get out an explore, eat the best foods and find some great spots for an instagram-worthy photo :).
Here's a look at some of my fun discoveries while traveling solo in Scottsdale.
Where to stay:
I stayed at The Phoenician resort during my time in Scottsdale and I was NOT disappointed. This is a luxury oasis provides a vast landscape evoking peace and serenity from the moment you drive onto the grounds until the time you leave. While staying here, I had a chance to explore their cactus garden, the spa, pool and enjoyed the BEST view while doing my morning yoga.
Where to eat:
While I thoroughly enjoyed the food at the resort as well as at a few other restaurants, my ABSOLUTE favorite place to eat was Diego Pops, my mouth is literally watering right now as I reminisce on how gooood the food was! Ok, so yes, it's Mexican, and yes they make tacos but, tell me one thing - have you ever had a Brussel sprout taco that knocked you off your seat?!?!? Well then, you have NEVER had good tacos. When I tell you I'd go back here just for that Brussel sprout taco, I would not be lying! The food here was SO good - everything from the street corn, to the cocktails, and the tacos.... I did not have one bad thing! In fact, I ordered so much, I had to take a doggy bag back to my hotel room. It was THAT good.
Things to do:
There were a couple of fun things I had the opportunity to in Scottsdale, and if you're ever visiting you should try these things out:
Hummer Desert Tours are the most informative and amazing experiences. I learned so much as we drove through the desert and had the opportunity to see how vast and beautiful the desert is. Thanks to Stellar Adventures I had an amazing time on this adventure.
Shopping and dining in Old Town Scottsdale is also a fun experience. I discovered so many beautiful handmade items that I was able to purchase and bring back to my home. There are also soo many restaurants and bars here, it's the perfect place for day time and night time fun.
While I only spent a few days in Scottsdale, I saw and experienced so much that makes it a definite repeat-destination for me.
If you've visited Scottsdale, share with me some of your favorite places and I'll add them to my list for my next trip!
