Recently we decided to venture out on a road trip with the kids. Because of Covid-19 we didn’t want to fly or take any modes of public transportation. We also didn’t want to spend hours in the car. So we settled on a 2 hour drive to vacation in the Hamptons and we got more than we hoped for.
First of all, it’s important to note That I’m sure the Hamptons is a vibrant destination under normal circumstance. But, for our tribe we wanted a change of scenery, some R&R at the beach and some good food so that I didn’t have to cook 😩! The aha Lyons gave us just enough of our wish list so I wanted to share in case you’re looking for a place to getaway.
Here’s a round up of the places we enjoyed during our Covid-cation in the Hamptons.
Places to eat:

The BEST lobster rolls EVERRRRRRRRR are located at the Shinnecock Lobster Factory! Now listen, don’t be deceived by the fact that this place looks like a food truck on the side of the road.... when I tell you I have never had a lobster roll like this.... trust and believe, this place was a complete experience. They have many different types of lobster rolls AND they have three different sizes for you to choose from, the guppy, the shark and the whale... all of these determine how much lobster goes into your roll 🤯. My eyes were way too big for my stomach and I chose the shark BLT lobster roll. It was absolutely delicious and I was able to snack on my roll while we sat at the beach because I couldn’t finish it in one sitting.
Another of our favorites is Rumba, a tropical themed casual spot on the on the water in Hampton Bays. They have indoor and outdoor seating and an island inspired menu to compliment the ambiance. We loved the food here so much we had dinner from here twice. The ribs are finger-licking good and my picky-eater (Chase) actually LOVED the ribs and the duck empanadas. Also, for those in need of a little cocktail to take of the edge of homeschooling and quarantining, try their coconut mojito!!

if you‘re looking for amazing Mexican food than look no further than Estia’s little kitchen. THIS PLACE is amazing! Whooo baby!! We had brunch here twice and every meal was absolutely delicious. They have a garden behind the restaurant where they source all of their vegetables and trust me, it’s evident! Everything is so fresh and so good!! I was dong a happy dance after every meal here. My favorites were the huevos rancheros, huevos bravo and their fresh cocktails. Yummmmmmm, I can’t wait to go back for some more good food from here.

Ok, last one, Grindstone Coffee and Donuts is one of those places that you visit and it haunts you forever, because it’s sooooooo good! Let me tell you, the donuts at this place are to die for.... I literally ordered half a dozen donuts because they all looked so good and I could choose. I mean, just look at this picture and you’ll understand... who makes NUTELLA SMORES DONUTS?!?!?!?! Like this was major diet sabotage but, it was vacation calories so it did t count! it is a must visit if you’re in Sag Harbor.
There were so many other amazing food places we visited but we’d be for several days if I listed them all, these are the ones I thought the kids enjoyed as well as the parents! Ha!
We’ll talk more about things to do in my next post. But for now, enjoy this one and be sure to wipe the drool off your face after looking at those donuts!
